Currie Engineering’s precision machine shop’s extensive range of machinery and capabilities have enabled them to build up an impressive portfolio of customers over the years, serving a wide variety of industry sectors such as energy, oil & gas, chemical, tobacco, construction, food, and electronics.
Our recent portfolio of companies we supply to, include many respected and market leaders within their own industry. Some of these include Howden Axial Fans, Caterpillar, Crossland Tankers, CDE , Harland and Wolff and many smaller local businesses. In order for Currie Engineering to satisfy all their customer’s requirements an extensive investment programme has been running for a number of years ensuring that the latest technology, skilled personnel and range of machinery is available.
Some of our machine shop’s investments include the following.
DMU 125 FD – 5 Axis Mill / Turn
This state of the art large capacity, 5 axis, milling and turning machine has the capability of taking parts up to 2,000kgs in weight. This DMU-FD machine is capable of simultaneous 5-axis and 5-sided machining, due to a universal pivot head functioning as NC-controlled B-axis, which can be pivoted without increments – to any horizontal or vertical position. The turning features of the DMU 125 FD with a maximum diameter of 1250mm makes it especially valuable for heavy, bulky and complex featured workpiece applications.
Zayer 30KC 8000AR
This traveling column type 5 axis milling machine has the capabilities of machining parts up to 8000mm on the X axis, 1600mm on the Y axis and 2500mm on the Z axis. The head has automatic positioning accurate to 0.001°. This machine has a fixed bed that makes it suitable for maintaining accuracy over large components up to 8000mm x 1600mm.
Doosan VCF850LSR 5-axis milling machine
Our New Doosan VCF 850 LSR has a large capacity with X-, Y- and Z-axis travels up to 3000mm x 850mm x 800mm. This machine comes with a B-axis (spindle swivel) of +/- 110 degrees, a milling spindle speed up to 12,000rpm and an 800mm diameter built-in rotary table making this is another great addition in our milling department.
Correa Fox-40
This bridge type milling machine has the capabilities of machining parts up to 4000mm on the X axis, 3250mm on the Y axis and 1500mm on the Z axis. It is fitted with a UAD automatic universal head with max 6000 rpm and a maximum table weight of 25,000kgs ensures large heavy components are no problem to this versatile machine.
Mori Seiki SL603 B / SL603 C
The SL603 C has a maximum turning diameter of 950mm and a turning length up to 3000mm, with a spindle bore of 275mm. It comes fitted with front and rear chucks, programmable hydraulic steady rest and is fitted with high pressure coolant. These features make this machine very versatile, capable of long shaft machining or large diameter machining found in the oil, gas and energy sectors.
Cincinnati FTV
This large capacity CNC Milling machine with 3700mm X travel, 850mm Y travel and 850 Z travel is fitted with a 4th axis. The fixed table accommodates heavier loads with no effect on accuracy and provides greater capacity for multiple set-ups or components up to 850mm x 3700mm.
